Ali is a Canadian Born British trained midwife. Born in Alberta, she grew up on beautiful Vancouver Island before leaving Canada to backpack in the 90’s. She spent 7 years travelling before settling in the United Kingdom where she discovered Midwifery through her own pregnancy. She graduated in 2008 from Bournemouth University and practiced in the UK until 2018 when she returned home to Canada.
In 2020 Ali completed the Internationally educated Midwifery Bridging program at UBC and began practicing in Langley BC. She then moved to Victoria and has been practicing there since 2022.
Ali believes wholeheartedly that birthing people have a fundamental right to unbiased information and the right to choose the care that is right for them and their families. She loves the model of care in British Columbia as it fosters the ability for midwives to earn trust and build a relationship with their clientele.
Her background includes high risk pregnancy care, midwifery led care and she particularly loves a water birth and has a special interest in home birth.
She can be found gazing into tide pools whenever the opportunity arises, paddle boarding, walking her dogs, snowshoeing and of course spending time with her family.

REGISTERED MIDWIFE (SHE/HER)
I am a Ghanaian midwife with over a decade of experience. I began my midwifery journey in a rural community and expanded into a hospital setting after receiving my formal midwifery education. Over the last five years, I have been involved in private collaborative practice while also serving as a midwifery clinical instructor at one of Ghana's leading privately-owned universities.
What captivates me about midwifery is the incredible honour of being chosen by expectant families to join them in their birthing journey, witnessing the miracle of a new generation coming into the world. I believe in fostering a fear-free and empowering birth experience, with the power remaining in the hands of the birthing person. To me, birth is an intimate, chaotic, yet peaceful journey. My goal is to empower expectant parents so that they can make informed decisions about pregnancy, labour, postpartum, and infant care. Recognizing the uniqueness of each family, I prioritize establishing a safe and comfortable connection with the birthing person and their chosen family. I recognize the value of collaborative and interdisciplinary care when it is required to provide holistic support to my clients.
When I am not studying or dancing with my two amazing little girls, I enjoy travelling and immersing myself in fictional novels that transport me to different worlds.

I believe that pregnancy, birth, and family are foundational elements of our lives. I feel honoured to be a witness to the experience of birth so often, and to support and empower families.
I have a supportive partner and I am the mother of three mostly grown children and one furry dog. I am passionate about reproductive health, holistic medicine, music and building strong communities. I am happy in my kitchen and I love to feed my friends and family.
I previously worked as a social worker, supporting people with intellectual and mental health disabilities – who taught me a lot about truly hearing people and facilitating informed choice. After attending the births of my youngest two brothers, and birthing my daughter, I became a doula. As I attended more births, I became increasingly aware of the power of birth, the strength of humans, and the impact a care provider can have on the birth experience, and growing families. My path drew me to the Bachelor of Midwifery program in Calgary, Alberta.
I was born and raised in Treaty 7 Territory, home of the Blackfoot Confederacy, as well as the Stoney Nakoda and Tsuut’ina peoples. I am looking forward to getting to know the Lekwungen-speaking people and their culture as my family makes our home in their traditional territory.
I support, in whole, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as well as the sovereignty of First Nations and mechanisms of redress for the disposition of lands and resources.
I am thrilled to be joining the lovely and supportive Rosehips Midwifery practice! I look forward to meeting you and supporting you and your family as you grow and birth your baby.
